Classic Steuben Crystal Sculpture Arctic Fisherman
pU for sale is a classic steuben crystal sculpture by world renowned artist, james houston. This beautiful crystal piece was inspired by culture of the inuit, witnessed by mr. Huoston in the 40s and 50s while living with them. It portrays a sterling silver inuit (eskimo) fisherman, bent over a crystal sea, sivler spear in hand, and ready to spear the engraved arctic char, suspended in an icy block of glass below. It is hand polihsed and copper wheel engraved. It refarcts light in many directions as you can see in the second photo which was shot with flash. It is almost 6 1/2 inches high nad almost 6 inches wide.
The name steuben is engraved on the bottom, attesting to it's authenticity. This sculpture represents the best work of john houston, and is a classic wokr of art, perhaps his best known. The artist worked with steuben glass factory in new york, after learning of their exceptional qaulity in fine crystal. He discovered that glass is a perfect medium for depicting ice, and the steuben proprietary formula produces a crystal of tremendous clarity and brilliance. This piece has to be seen to be appreciated.

This is a rare opportunity to aquire a classic and historical piece of original art, by a famous artist. Mr. Houston passed away in 2005. This piece sells new for almost $6000. There are no scratches or defects that i can find anywhere. Teh piece itself, looks like the day it was created. It comes with the original red display case, which being about 30 years old, shows some signs of wear.
The box has a small tear in the fabric fo the lid, some of the velvet is loose, and their are some bubbles in the vinyl on the outside. But believe me, you won't wnat to keep this sculpture in the case. You wlil want to display it prominently. These pictures are of the actaul piece, taken by me.
